President's Message

December 2012

For those of you who don’t know me, I was born and raised in Fresno.  In 1976, I moved my wholesale nursery to Avenue 9 in Madera and started farming pistachio’s in 1982 in Madera.  In 2006, I became a director of the Madera County Farm Bureau and at our last meeting was elected to be the Board President.  I consider this to be an honor to follow in the footsteps of Tom Rogers who has given so much of his time to farm bureau and has done a great job as Board President for the last four years.

When I first joined Madera County Farm Bureau board, my primary interest was to learn more about the water supply for Madera County agriculture.  I have learned a lot over the past 6years about our water supply.  I have also learned that our water supply is very complicated and we do not have enough for all that we want or need.  I believe Madera is a farming county first and we need to do everything we can to protect our agriculture water supply.

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and lets all pray for snow in the mountains.

See Ya

Tom Coleman
