Position Overview:

- Job Title: Part-Time Conservation Planner
- Employer: Madera/Chowchilla Resource Conservation District (MCRCD), California
- Key Focus: Conservation planning, outreach, and implementation of resource conservation projects.
- Current Projects: Soil health, producer incentive payments, sustainable groundwater.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement conservation projects on agricultural properties to improve water quality, manage runoff, and restore habitats.
- Collaborate with staff and partners to develop conservation plans, facilitate permits, and supervise implementation.
- Promote and apply conservation practices such as nutrient management, erosion control, habitat restoration, and more.
- Prepare grant proposals and reports, participate in technical advisory committees, and present at events.
- Use GIS and GPS technology for planning and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Required: Proficiency in ArcGIS and GPS, bachelor’s degree in natural sciences or related field, strong communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Desired: At least 3 years of professional experience, knowledge of agriculture and natural resource conservation, familiarity with permits and regulations, and experience in revegetation planning.

- Wage: $23-$28 per hour (based on experience).
- Hours: 20 hours per week.

The Pathways Internship positions are available to students from high school up to the graduate school level. The Recent Graduates positions are available to students who apply within two years of receiving a degree or certificate of completion. Those who successfully complete the Pathways Internship or Recent Graduates Program can be eligible for non-competitive conversion to permanent, fulltime positions.
These programs provide a great opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in natural resource management, and give NRCS the opportunity to see if they will be a good fit for our agency.
