Spring is in the air! The weather is warming up and we are moving into more average temperatures. Soon our fields will be bustling with all the farming activity.
As you get ready to fire up your irrigation, I urge everyone to do their part and utilize the surface water that is available to them. I know the number one question on everyone’s mind is “Can I pump it cheaper?”. Please meet with your pump company and have them help run the numbers, you will find that it is not the case due to the dropping water table. Besides, the quality of the surface water is far superior to well water.
As we head into spring, I’d like to remind everyone to review their safety protocols with all employees that will be applying any type of chemical. We must be vigilant in our application practices so that we do not spray or allow chemical drift to reach passing school busses or cars as we don’t want any bad press.
MCFB will be hosting a Heat Illness safety meeting on May 16. Please sign up and send your employees.
